16 Hours
I swear, all my cats do is sleep.

I’ve never seen my cats awake for more than 1 hour at a time. They’re little bundles of energy, who will pounce upon nothing at all and chase after imaginary prey. I know that it’s a normal behavoir in house-bound cats as all that stored energy has to go somewhere. But just as quickly as they can attack little pieces of paper, they can plop down and fall asleep.

They seemingly fall asleep anywhere. I’ve seen my cats sleep on top of plastic bags, under the table, on my couch, on my lap and especially on top of my receiver. The warmer the spot, the more appealing it is. I’ve actually never seen them sleep on the kitchen floor or the bathroom floor, but who knows what they do when I’m away. My cousin installed a web cam in his house to monitor his dog (who’s name happens to be Satchmo) and see what he does while he and his wife are away. His wife tells us that she gets minutely updates about what he’s doing. I thought about the idea, but I don’t have a stable connection. If I ever do, we’ll see what happens.

Sometimes I wish my life were that simple. Nary a worry in the world. I’d wake up my owner 30 minutes before his alarm because I want to be fed. I’d jump on his lap everytime he wanted to read a book/magazine. I’d meow everytime I wanted to be petted and I’d lounge around all day. The biggest choice I’d have to make is whether or not I wanted to take a nap behind the couch, on the couch or in front of the couch.

Now wouldn’t that be nice?
