April 2002

Sometimes I wonder about my thought processes.

I spend a lot of time in my car. Between my daily commutes to and from work, my weekly drives to my aunt’s, etc., I have a lot of time think. And there are many times I’ll be driving along and all of a sudden I’ll think of something, and wonder to myself, “why am I thinking about this?” A good example of this happened last weekend.

Just a small warning. This will sound very…geekish. You’ve had your warning.

I was driving on the freeway with my windows down, as I am known to do, with the music playing loudly. I noticed that the wind noise had the effect of suppressing the higher frequencies of the music, sort of as if someone covered your ears with a scarf. That suddenly reminded me of this girl I very briefly dated back in college. How? Read on.

That incident reminded me of an incident a few years back coming out of a loud club with Mike, Laura and some other people (I still don’t know what happened to that skirt). I think it was Halloween. Anyway, I made a comment to the gang that I felt like someone placed a low-pass filter in between my ears. That lead me to remember that shortly after that comment, I made a phone call to the girl, where her mom had informed me that she had already left for the party I was headed to. This in turn, reminded me of the time she drove down to my place and we watched Saving Private Ryan after I kicked my roommate out for the evening. *happy sigh*

Those were good times. I wonder what she’s up to these days. Hopefully she’s doing well. I’ll have to give her a ring next time I’m back in town.

Just a quick little note today.

I am content. Actually, you could almost say happy. I think I have finally found what I’ve been searching almost two years for. I want to say what it is, but I’m afraid I might jinx it. Yeah, yeah, I know…I’m being silly. But hey, this is actually a non-obligatory post, so :P to you!

Another installment of the Friday Five!

1. What are your hobbies? Gosh, I used to have so many, but college sort of killed that…

2. Do you collect anything? If so, what? Nothing really much nowadays. But if anything, I collect Buffy memorabilia.

3. Is there a hobby you’re interested in, but just don’t have the time/money to do? I have a ton of photos that I’d like to put together in some sort of book or something…but I have been interested learning how to ride a motorcycle. Guess that’s not really a hobby, but hey :)
4. Have you ever turned a hobby into a moneymaking opportunity? Nope. Though I have thought about selling some of those Magic cards I used to collect when I was in high school.

5. Besides web-related stuff (burbs, rings, etc.), what clubs do you belong to? Nope. Never was a big clubby kind of guy. Not like I have time anyway, with all my commitments.

1. What’s your favorite TV show and why? Buffy. It’s one of the most innovative shows on television. When it came on to the scene, it was a pioneer. I mean, a strong, young female lead character? Yeah, it rules.

2. Who is your favorite television star? I have a small Katie Holmes fetish :)
3. What was your favorite TV show as a child? Oh, Gosh. I loved the smurfs.

4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now? Friends. I loathe that show.

5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season? I was going to say Roswell, but that’s too late now.
