Ok, this entry is going to be a little short since I hurt all over. Yes, all over.
So I got a letter from the admissions office of my alma mater containing the “Admissions Office Applicant Report” for students I interviewed. Overall, I’m happy with my results. Out of the twenty kids I talked to, only 2 were outright rejected to all the schools/programs they applied to.
Out of 38 applications on my report, the final stats are:
- 20 acceptances, or 53%
- 9 waitlists, or 24%
- 9 rejections, or 24%
There were some surprises though. One kid, who I thought would be a perfect fit for the engineering program was rejected outright. He had everything really going in his favor, or at least so I gathered from my one hour of exposure to him. I’m going to have this followed up by a friend of mine and see what the deal is. Maybe there was something in his transcript…
It was weird after the interviewing season was over. I really enjoyed the afternoons I spent talking with these kids. It’s going to feel weird as well come middle of May when the confirmation class for this year is over. And then summer time when my history class ends for the school year. Of course, I’ll be busy taking care of other business, but it will still feel weird. Maybe I’ll actually have time to do stuff for myself!
What a concept…
