I saw this article this morning:
U.S. gasoline prices zoom to near-record high - Aug. 24, 2003
and all I have to say is, “no, really?!” Prices for gas in the bay area have once again risen to stupid levels. I fricken paid $2.31/gallon for gas yesterday. I mean, wtf. I’m just glad that I’m not driving one of those stupid SUVs which gets < 20 miles/gallon.
Then there's this:
GOP calls Democratic plan to swap tax for car fee illegal
Funny how the governor wants to reverse the car-tax boost (after he triggered it) now, when it looks likely that he’ll be recalled.
But how ’bout this? Instead of increasing income and cigarette taxes, or for that matter the vehicle license fee, why not raise gas taxes? This way, people who drive fuel efficient cars (generally lower income and environmentally friendly people) are not hurt as much as those soccer mom always gabbing away on the cell phone driving gas guzzling SUVs. It might actually cause more people to carpool and use mass transit.
Wow, what a concept

so i took mass transit today to and from work for the first time in the three years i’ve been out here. so even after rushing and getting on the train going in the wrong direction, i’ve come to the following conclusion:
this is something that I’ll definitely be doing more often from now on
sure, it added a lot of time to my commute, more than doubling my 25 minutes in the morning, 30 minutes in the evening to a little over an hour, but it was SO much less stressful. i got some reading in on my commute home and i don’t really mind getting home around 6 instead of 5.
too many benefits to outweigh the minor annoyances for sure!

I’m not sure how many more ways i can express this but…
friendster is EVIL!

ok, i have some time before i have to go get my aunt from the airport at 11pm and i have some net access so lemme do a quickie update.
the wedding was awesome! seattle was pretty cool, even if we totally bombed in our attempt to get mariner tix for a sat afternoon game. but it worked out nicely cause jon and teresa had a bbq that afternoon. but i digress. so the wedding…15 minutes tops. the reception, on the other hand was like 5+ hours long. it was nice seeing my old cmu buds, along with jon’s parents (both sets). teresa looked amazing and so did dawn. i saw tracy again after prolly 5 years and she looked great as well.
the bbq was cool as well. met jessica and carolyn, teresa’s high school friends and we later went out that evening while jon and teresa packed for their honeymoon. we hung out in the fremont area of seattle and at dinner carolyn tells me that she’s met me before at one of joe’s parties, which is entirely possible considering what joe’s parties were like
though i swear i would have remembered her cause she’s a total cutie.
otherwise things are peachy. i totally need a haircut; it’s starting to look really shaggy, but still cool after my hair experiments. the most common comment i got in seattle by people i knew was, “what did u do to yer hair?”, quickly followed by, “it’s really cool.”
ok, that’s it for now. don’t miss me too much!
