September 2005

this has been going on for a while, but i keep forgetting to mention it here. i’ve been syndicating this blog on xanga for all those people who use it. it started off as just a way for me to comment on people’s blogs, but now it’s just another place for me to dump these entries.

my dad’s in the hospital again :(

for those of you who pray, please pray for my family as we go through some difficult times…

happy birthday google!

i think i’m addicted to aspirin…

nah, i don’t really think so, but i’ve probably taken more aspirin the last 4 weeks than i have the last 4 years. it’s not because i’m i chronic pain or anything. i’ve found that if i take two aspirin after i go for a particularly long run, then i won’t feel all achy and sore hours later. yeah, i know…weird :-P

just a quick note about my spectacular new running shoes…

they’re great. my legs feel like shit, but my feet are doing just fine. the shoes performed extremely well on my 4 mile evening run, providing excellent stability and controlling my pronation. the gel cushioning was very soft and absorbed the impact of each step with ease; it felt like i was running on a nice padded surface instead of the hard concrete. around mile 3 i was surprised to feel a nice breeze on my feet; they certainly breathe much better than my old adidas sneakers. i haven’t tried running with my superfeet in them yet, but i did try them on at the store and they’re comfy.

ugh, my calves are still tired from last weekend. two days off (tues and wed) didn’t seem to help much, but then again, neither did my run last night or tonight. i should probably eliminate the hill climb and descent from my runs for a few days to reduce the stretching and contraction i’m subjecting my calves to. i think that part of the strain on my calves has to do with the new shoes; since my calves were probably use to my duck-footed overpronated way of running, these new shoes (which i’ve noticed cause my feet to actually strike the ground like a normal person) are probably subjecting them to new strain. i should probably wear them around for a few days straight (i like to alternate my shoes on a daily basis and stick to my slides on the weekend) to get used to them.

or as someone suggested, i could just take a day off or two :)
