before i head back to california tomorrow, i wanted to say a few thanks.
thanks to everyone who’s been praying for my family and i over the last few weeks. it’s been a great comfort to know that there are so many of you who would intercede on our behalf.
thanks to everyone who’s called me the last few days even though i haven’t felt like talking much. just listening to some of the voicemail has been helpful.
thanks to everyone who’s sent flowers and gift baskets to the house. thanks to everyone who’s sent us cards as well.
thanks to everyone who attended my father’s wake and let me cry on their shoulders. the outpouring of sympathy from everyone is a true testament to the good and full life my father lived.
thanks to everyone who attended my father’s funeral and subsequent burial. thanks for listening to the wonderful words that were said in honor of my father and for putting up with my sobbing attempts to pay tribute to him.
it’s going to be hard leaving here tomorrow. it’s hard to imagine going through the rest of my life without my dad around to guide me. when i think of all the plans we had, tears well up in my eyes. but we’ll carry on, one day at a time.

Love. Love. Love.
You will make it through this - and though it will be sad and hard at times, your Dad will certainly be with you in other ways.

Jeff, people that die don’t really go away, they’re always there with us. I know it’s hard to accept this, but since my dad passed away unexpectedly almost 10 years ago everyday I know and feel he’s still with. It is like some guiding force, that I know has been watching over me. When you’re having a tough day, just take a moment to stop and smile of all the good times. It helps me to think of my dad’s laugh or strange sense of humor. As time goes on, it will be easier…but there are those days, the life changing event ones where it is still difficult (marriage, engagement, etc….) Just know, that they are always with you, even if it is just watching from afar.
