Friday Five

time to revive my participation in…the friday five! (no, this isn’t the substantive post)

1) What was the first CD/Record/Album/Artist you ever bought and what format was it in? (Vinyl/Cassette/CD/MP3 Download)?

  • Welcome to the Jungle, Guns N’ Roses, Cassette

2) How do you usually listen to music? (iPod/Walkman/Stereo/Radio)

3) What is your favorite genre of music and why?

  • Alt. Rock - just the flavor of the moment

4) What is your opinion on music video shows and music television?

  • Back when MTV played music videos it was cool. Now it’s just totally LAME.

5) Do you usually agree with who the winners of the Grammy Awards are?

  • I never watch for the winner, just the performances.

it’s been a while since i’ve done one of these, so here goes:

At this moment, what is your favorite…

1. …song? this is a toughie…too many songs running through my head…but at this very moment it would have to be breathe by michelle branch since it was the last song i heard before getting out of my car…

2. …food? my all-time favorite, singapore chow mai fun

3. …tv show? currently obsessed with the apprentice, but i really like joan of arcadia

4. …scent? on me? issey miyaki

5. …quote? “I beg you to follow your star . . . because I believe now, I have always believed, and I shall continue to believe that what Boccaccio says is true: it is better to act and repent than not to act and regret” - Niccolò Machiavelli

It’s been a while since I’ve done one, so here goes!

1. Where are you right now? In a cube, in an office.

2. What time is it? 7.37am PST

3. What are you wearing? Oh baby, wouldn’t you like to know?

4. Any people or animals around you? Describe them. Heh, there’s my neighbor across the cubeway, Bob. He’s old.

5. What are your plans for the weekend? I have an interview to conduct with a high school girl, off to Ikea, and uh…other stuff :)

We - or at least I - shall not be able to adore God on the highest occasions if we have learned no habit of doing so on the lowest. At best, our faith and reason will tell us that He is adorable, but we shall not have found Him so, not have “tasted and seen.” Any patch of sunlight in a wood will show you something about the sun which you could never get from reading books on astronomy. These pure and spontaneous pleasures are “patches of godlight” in the woods of experience.

-C. S. Lewis

1. Would you say that you’re good at keeping in touch with people? No. I absolutely suck at it. More later…

2. Which communication method do you usually prefer/use: e-mail, telephone, snail mail, blog comments, or meeting in person? Why? I have to say that I use IM (ICQ, AIM, MSN, etc.) to do most of my communications. Especially with friends of mine back on the East Coast. As much as I love talking on the phone, it requires all of my attention. I can do other stuff if I’m using IM.

3. Do you have an instant messenger program? How many? Why/why not? How often do you use it? Speak of the devil! Yes, I use instant messenger programs. How many? Umm…uhh…I have four installed and yes, I use all of them on an almost daily basis.

4. Do most of your close friends live nearby or far away? They’re scattered all over the place. From San Jose to Boston, from Orange County to New York and everywhere in between.

5. Are you an “out of sight, out of mind” person, or do you believe that “distance makes the heart grow fonder”? Oi, here’s a tough one. As much as I’d like to believe the latter, the former is probably closer to the way I am…
