I was perusing through CNN.com’s feature on obesity in America and apparently, San Jose is ranked #10 in the list of America’s fattest cities. My first reaction was, “whaaa?” But then I thought about it some more and I guess that initial surprise has worn off. Some of my circle of friends are all fit and very health conscious while others…not so much. When I think about the people I see at work, at church or when I’m just out and about, I can definitely understand how that’s possible. It’s kind of depressing, but when people are bringing heart-clogging amounts of chocolate-covered strawberries and fondue to potlucks, I guess that’s the consequence. Of course, I’m guilty of occasionally bringing butter-rich brownies and shortening-filled homemade oreos too, but I usually never end up eating them :)

Yet another reason I think that car-loving, public-transit lacking Californians are deluded, self-righteous and smug :D  So who’s going to run (or walk) with me in the Silicon Valley Marathon in Nov (the 5k portion)?
